With less than a month to go before the annual Monaco Grand Prix, Baldwin Wallace University sport management grad David Lamb '24 is in the thick of what is widely considered to be one of the most important and elite automobile races in the world.

Drivers in the exciting, demanding and sometimes harrowing Formula 1 race navigate more than 78 laps on the course, which runs through the narrow streets of Monaco with many elevation changes, tight corners and a tunnel.

In March, Lamb joined The Monaco Inside Track in Monte Carlo, Monaco. "The company I work for gives Formula 1 fans a truly authentic, unforgettable and history-packed two-and-a-half hour walking tour encompassing almost a century of racing history," Lamb explains.

"With the 82nd Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix coming up May 23-25, we also provide a full hospitality experience seven floors above the starting grid for a truly action-packed weekend."

Lamb adds that sharing the Monaco Grand Prix lore with diverse clients is a thrill.

"My favorite part about living abroad is meeting people from all around the world on a regular basis," Lamb shares. "With our smaller private tours, I have the luxury of inviting clients back to our penthouse apartment, which overlooks 65% of the circuit and has views of Italy."

BW experiential learning

Before graduating in 2024, Lamb had already added a long list of sport management experiences to his resume, taking full advantage of the program's many opportunities for travel and work at exceptional sporting events.

"I am blessed to be working my third year in Monaco for the Grand Prix, as well as over a dozen Formula 1 events, and the 2023 and 2024 Masters Golf Tournaments thanks to the Baldwin Wallace sport management program," he says, giving kudos to the hard-working sport management faculty who arrange and lead the trips.

In addition to his sport management education, Lamb credits a campus job as a BW admission tour guide with helping him to develop the skills needed to shepherd guests through the stunning sights of Monte Carlo and iconic Formula 1 landmarks.

"I am working a dream job in one of the most beautiful countries in the world because of what I was able to do at Baldwin Wallace," Lamb concludes. "Thank you to all staff at BW for continuing to empower students."
