Incoming BW President Lee Fisher to speak at Spring Commencement

Baldwin Wallace University is proud to announce that President-designate Lee Fisher will serve as the May 10 Spring Commencement keynote speaker.

Lee Fisher

Fisher, who officially begins his role leading BW on July 1, is already a welcomed and familiar face on campus, along with his wife, Peggy Zone Fisher.

Since being named as the University's 10th president, Fisher has actively attended campus events, including an introduction to faculty and staff, the opening of a pop-up Women's Center and the victory that sent the Yellow Jacket Women's Basketball team to the Sweet 16. He and his wife, Peggy, also have plans to attend BW's annual Music Theatre Showcase in New York City in early April.

"Connecting with members of the BW community and hearing what they like best about the University is helping me to build a deeper understanding of BW's culture and mission to prepare students for outstanding professional and personal success," said Fisher. "The 'Yellow Jacket for Life' spirit that ties together generations of people committed to the University is inspiring."

Celebrating new beginnings

Fisher will speak to approximately 493 undergraduate and 145 graduate students at BW's 175th Commencement, which is being held at 2 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium in the Lou Higgins Recreation Center

As he prepares his speech, Fisher knows the day is a pinnacle experience for graduates and their families. "Commencement is a celebratory acknowledgment of hard work and dedication. I am honored to address our Class of 2025 as each graduate begins a new life journey, just as I am at BW."

Fisher is experienced at delivering words of inspiration to college graduates. He has served as commencement speaker at the University of Toledo; Ohio Northern University; CWRU Weatherhead School of Management; College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, University of Illinois at Chicago; Cuyahoga Community College; Columbus State Community College; and University of Akron Law School.
