BW psychology major's distinctive internship yields job ahead of graduation

Success for Lauren Reid '25 extends beyond the classroom as she applies her psychology major in a big business environment.

Lauren Reid '25 is already putting her psychology major to work with a focus on industrial-organizational psychology.

After landing an internship with Crown Castle, the nation's largest provider of shared communications infrastructure, last summer, Reid has accepted a position in Crown Castle's Business Immersion Program, set to begin after her May graduation.

Robust Internship Experience

Throughout her internship, Reid says she gained hands-on experience while working in the company's Western Pennsylvania office.

Highlights included:

  • Conducting interviews and crafting narratives for an employee news article that reached over 4,000 employees.

  • Leveraging her BW education to conduct a training session on mental health and wellness, benefiting 80 attendees.

  • Developing and implementing a content archival strategy to ensure employees had easy access to important internal resources.

  • Contributing to a Case Study Competition alongside fellow interns, where her team's recommendations for enhancing wireless infrastructure won best proposal.

Deep campus involvement

During her time at BW, Reid built leadership skills and made an impact on campus and within her academic community.

She has been enrolled in the Honors Program all four years, with a year as an Honors Leadership Board Ambassador. She also served as both president and secretary of the International Honor Society in Psychology (Psi Chi) and as vice president and treasurer of the BW Psychology Club.

Working as a research assistant in BW's Cognitive Neuropsychology Lab, Reid contributed to a project examining the biomechanics of the brain following ACL injuries and presented three research projects at BW's annual Ovation event.

Reid has also served as a peer leader in the First-Year Experience (FYE) program, where she mentored incoming students, and played on the women's volleyball team, later serving as team manager.

Reid attributes much of her success to the mentorship and guidance she received from the outstanding faculty and staff at BW, using words like "encouraging," "inspiring" and "supportive" to describe them and their impact by name.

A Bright Future Ahead

With her work ethic, leadership abilities and passion for making a difference, Reid's future is undoubtedly bright.

In the upcoming two-year immersion program with Crown Castle, Reid will participate in three eight-month rotations focused on business performance and process improvements.

She is excited "to contribute to projects that are shaping the future of connectivity," particularly in her home state of Pennsylvania.

Reid's journey at BW has been one of growth, achievement and gratitude. Her academic pursuits, leadership roles and hands-on experience have paved the way for her exciting career.
