Baldwin Wallace University names interim provost

Baldwin Wallace University has appointed a new interim chief academic officer.

Dr. Linda Chase, distinguished professor and past department chair of Accounting & Business Law in BW's Carmel Boyer School of Business, was named interim provost, effective January 1, 2025.

Deep industry experience

Chase worked for both private industry and public accounting firms prior to joining BW as a full-time professor 24 years ago. She brings extensive experience working with financial statement preparation and consolidation to her new role.

In her last private sector position, Chase supported the computer transfer of Eaton's financial data into their new Oracle computer system. She designed many of the financial reports that are used globally and created and delivered a training program for Eaton employees to transition legacy financial reports into the new Oracle financial reporting system.

Professional leadership

Chase is a certified public accountant (CPA) in the state of Ohio and a certified fraud examiner (CFE), serving as a board member of the Northeast Ohio Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (AFCE).

She is also the coordinator for Ohio's Accounting Programs Leadership Group (APLG), served as vice president of leadership development for the national APLG through the American Accounting Association (AAA), and volunteered on multiple higher education initiatives with the global organization of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Chase has been a regular presenter to various organizations on ethics and CPA exam readiness, often qualifying for CPA licensure and CFE credential continuing education credits.

New executive role

As part of the University's executive leadership team, Chase reports to Interim President Greg Flanik. 

He noted, "Linda will be key to supporting the university's ongoing transformation, ensuring that we meet the commitments outlined in our transformation plan as we prepare to welcome our next president."

Chase holds a Ph.D. in Education from Kent State University, an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University and a BBA in Accounting from Cleveland State University.
