BW student body elects 110th president and vice president

Photo of Lizzy Cole '23 and Matt Perry '23On the heels of a gold seal award for a 72% voting rate in the 2020 general election from the All In Campus Democracy Challenge, the Baldwin Wallace undergraduate student body elected Lizzy Cole '23 and Matt Perry '24 as the 110th BW Student Body President and Vice President on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Cole, a junior from Shaker Heights, Ohio, is a mild/moderate educational needs major with a psychology minor. Her campus involvement includes junior class president, women's tennis team, sister of Delta Zeta, Collegiate Panhellenic Council delegate, Hillel executive board, Baldwin Wallace Students Education Organizations (BWSEO), resident assistant, peer tutor, student employee in the Student Life Center and student senator.

"I am ecstatic to serve the Baldwin Wallace community as the student body president," Cole said. "I look forward to working with the administration, staff and fellow students. I strive to bring the community positive change while advocating for the entire student body. I am looking forward to this next year!"

Perry, a sophomore from Mentor, Ohio, is a hospitality and tourism management and marketing major with a minor in social media production. On campus, his involvement includes the cross country team, track and field team (distance runner), Student Senate Facilities and Sustainability Committee chairperson, secretary of Student Ambassadors and sophomore class vice president.

"I am honored to have the opportunity ahead to serve the BW community as the student body vice president. Lizzy and I both look forward to working with the administration, student government and the student body on campus in order to bring everyone closer together. Together, we hope to help Baldwin Wallace become the best it can be through the actions we take to encourage growth in the BW community," Perry said.

The student body president and vice president serve as liaisons between students and the university administration. Cole and Perry officially took office on Tuesday, Feb. 22, during the annual Student Body Officer Inauguration Ceremony.
