BW grad living the dream promoting Broadway and more in NYC

Jai'len Josey '20, currently appearing in "SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical," and Kate Rockwell '06, currently starring in "Mean Girls," had the chance to perform on the Radio City Musical Hall stage during the live TV broadcast. Rockwell even had a solo.

But there was another, less visible BW connection to two Tony Award-winning shows. Logan Foster '17 has helped to promote both "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two" and "Once on This Island" as he lives his dream working as a social media coordinator for marketing company AKA NYC.

AKA NYC

Just months after earning his degree in arts management and entrepreneurship and marketing last May, Foster moved to New York and began his career with AKA NYC, the only global-integrated marketing agency focusing on the arts, entertainment, leisure and culture industries.

"In my role, my primary goals include utilizing social media to drive ticket sales, generating awareness about the production, and growing and engaging our social following," Foster explained. "Outside these goals, I also assist in the new business pitch process for brand new shows by doing social media and insights research, and I serve on our company's leadership committee."

Tony Award-winning clients

Broadway shows that Foster has worked with during the current Broadway season include the Tony Award-winners "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two," which won six awards including Best Play, and "Once on This Island," which won Best Musical Revival.

"Since starting at AKA, I've never felt more challenged," Foster said, "but to overcome those challenges and then see your and your team's hard work pay off is incredibly rewarding."

Dream come true

"You may know the music of Donna Summer, but you don't know her story, and this show spotlights that - it's a celebration of her life and legacy," Foster shared. "I was introduced to Donna when I was in middle school and I've loved her music ever since, so working on this show is a dream come true."

BW support

While a senior at BW, Foster was recognized for his entertainment blog, Applaud Squad, and the prestigious scholarship he received from Live Nation. Now, a year later, Foster is continuing to do great things and pursue his dreams.

"I am so thankful for my parents, family, friends and colleagues as well as the countless people at Baldwin Wallace," expressed Foster. "I know I wouldn't be where I am without them and their continuous support."
