Richard Stout has a distinguished performing career both through his position as second trombone with The Cleveland Orchestra as well as through his many solo and chamber music projects. A member of The Cleveland Orchestra since 2000, Stout also performs on the bass trumpet and the euphonium when works call for those instruments. He has been a faculty member of the Cleveland Institute of Music since 2001, where he is the director of brass chamber music. In addition to his orchestral career, Stout performs a wide range of chamber works, from brass quintets and trios to mixed-instrument ensembles, and performs solo recitals and concertos with orchestras. Stout recently released a CD of fantasy pieces for trombone and piano on the Albany label titled “Decreasing Radius,” on which he performs with his wife, pianist Christina Dahl. Prior to joining The Cleveland Orchestra, Stout held positions with the Jacksonville Symphony, the New Haven Symphony and the North Carolina Symphony, and for 12 years he taught at the Eastern Music Festival. Stout studied at The Curtis Institute of Music with Glenn Dodson.
