Stephanie Orr (she/her) is an assistant professor of costume technology at Baldwin Wallace University.
Prior to BW she was the costume studio director at the University of Oklahoma where she coordinated the shop with the schools of Dance, Drama, Music, and Musical Theatre to produce nine mainstage shows a season. Orr has worked at the Alley Theatre in Houston, TX as the firsthand to the tailor; and has also freelanced in Los Angeles and in New York City, most notably with the Radio City Rockettes. She has toured with the hip hop dance show "Groovaloo," worked for the Houston Astros Shooting Stars, and with illusionist Rob Lake. Her summer stock credits include: draper at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, draper at Music Theatre Wichita, stitcher at Goodspeed Opera House and American Players Theatre.
Her work was displayed at the USITT National Conference in 2017 and 2018. Her research on Fashion, Politics, and the Modern Audience was presented at the SETC Theatre Symposium in 2017.
Stephanie is a member of Costume Society of America, The Association of Dress Historians and USITT. Her research interests include tailoring, historical clothing, and collection & archive management.
