Laura Blesse-Hampton's medical background includes hematology/oncology, gastroenterology and surgery. She is clinically active with the Cleveland Clinic in their occupational health department.
She serves as the faculty advisor for the Baldwin Wallace University Physician Assistant Student Society (BWUPASS). She has been published by the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (JAAPA) and has acted as a peer reviewer for the journal since 2010. She has also served as subject matter expert and exam review participant for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) since 2015. In 2022, the NCCPA appointed her to a four year term as the exam program chair for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE).
Her special interests include the use of bedside ultrasound to improve patient outcomes. She is a member of the Society for Point of Care Ultrasound (SPOCUS). She has previously served as an instructor in the ultrasound workshops at the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) national conference. She also volunteers as part of the SPOCUS Train the Trainer program by educating faculty members at other PA programs how to perform and teach ultrasound to their students.
In October 2018, she was awarded the Jerry A. Greco, PA-C Memorial PA Educator of the Year by the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants. In May 2019, she was awarded the Golden Probe Award in recognition of her contributions and service to the SPOCUS mission.
