Having had an impressive career in communications, advancement and marketing, Ellen Zegarra brought decades of expertise to her role as BW's vice president for philanthropy and alumni engagement when she assumed the position in October 2022 after serving as the University's senior philanthropy advisor and assistant vice president for philanthropy and strategic engagement.

Lauded for her leadership and professional skills in creating transformative opportunities for Baldwin Wallace through strategic initiatives focused on relationship-building, engagement and philanthropy, Zegarra is at the center of connecting BW to people and programs that can provide substantive financial and learning benefits to the campus community.

Through the Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, Zegarra leads her team of talented professionals with strategic direction. In her eight years at BW, she has provided strong leadership, foresight and ingenuity in reimagining and expanding programming, communication and outreach to BW's 50,000-plus alumni.

At the forefront of Zegarra's current role as VP is her intuitive talent for tapping into donor affinity and creating pathways for collaboration. Having earned her bachelor's degree from Ursuline College, Zegarra has a deep understanding of the role private education has in creating the next generation of leaders and visionaries.

Her innate drive for success in achieving a goal and resourceful approach to project management are evident in her many accomplishments at the University. In March, her team raised nearly half a million dollars in a 24-hour fundraising event that will bring financial aid to deserving students as well as fund important initiatives for student success.
