Weekly Program Coordinators
We are currently seeking Weekly Program Coordinators for 2015-2016!
The Office of Community Outreach has several weekly programs, each of which involves a group of students serving at a local agency for a few hours each week throughout the BW school year (except during BW breaks).
Role of Weekly Program Coordinators:
Weekly Program Coordinators are responsible for all aspects of leading a weekly program at an established service site. Duties include serving as a liaison between OCO and the community partner, recruiting service participants, planning and facilitating reflection, and driving students to and from the service site (BW van provided). Weekly Program Coordinators will meet as a group 1-2 times per month (Tuesdays at 12:00 p.m.). Like all OCO Team Members, Weekly Program Coordinators participate in monthly All-OCO Team meetings, retreats once per semester, and OCO special events such as Saturday of Service.
Positions Available for 2015-2016:
Boys and Girls Club
Each week, BW students join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland in their mission to "inspire and enable young people who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens." Student participants develop relationships with youth at the West Side Club while helping with homework and participating in recreational activities like kickball, crafts and games. The coordinator is responsible for planning weekly activities to engage the children with BW volunteers.
Esperanza, Inc. is dedicated to promoting Hispanic education. Since 2011, BW students have spent Wednesday afternoons assisting middle school students with homework and enrichment activities in partnership with Esperanza, Inc. The Esperanza coordinator occasionally plans activities to supplement those planned by an Esperanza staff member.
The Food Center at Near West, affectionately referred to by BW students as "St. Pat's," offers an evening meal three days per week as well as a food pantry and referral services for families and individuals in need. BW students serve dinner on Tuesday nights and offer activity options such as coloring and games for any children present at the meal.
A minimum GPA of 2.5 or above is required. Applications due by 12:00 Noon on Friday, March 27th.
