We are pleased to announce that Christy Burke Walkuski has been named as the new Director of Community Outreach!  Christy will begin her position part-time in September and full-time in October. 

Christy Burke Walkuski is a proud BW alumni, graduating with a degree in English and Education.  Following BW Christy went on to pursue an MED in Higher Education Administration from Loyola University Chicago.  Christy served as the Assistant Director for the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement at the University of South Florida, working with civic leadership, social justice and international service programs.  Christy's passion for civic engagement, social justice and human rights led her to serve as the Service-Learning Coordinator for two voyages with Semester at Sea (Summer 2009, Fall 2011).  Christy returned to the Cleveland area in 2010 to pursue her PhD in Cultural Foundations of Education at Kent State University.  Christy's research interests include civic identity development, the civic empowerment gap, and renewing the civic mission of Higher Education.  Christy is also active with the Cleveland Collaborative Initiative to End Human Trafficking.

Julie Bishop is the Assistant Director of Community Outreach.  Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Master of Arts degree in Education from Baldwin Wallace University.  Currently in her ninth year as Assistant Director, she has had a longstanding history of involvement in OCO both as an undergraduate student and a Graduate Assistant.  Originally from Massillon, Julie lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Rob, and son, Abraham.  She enjoys outdoor activities, reading and spending time with friends and family.  Julie is passionate about service, education and social justice related issues.

Katy Johnson
is the Graduate Intern in the Office of Community Outreach. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Baldwin Wallace in May 2014 and is currently enrolled in the Leadership in Higher Education Masters Program at BW.  Katy had experience in OCO as an undergraduate student as a member of the 2012 Alternative Summer Break Team. She was named the Baldwin Wallace Student Volunteer of the Year for the years 2013 and 2014 and was awarded the Campus and Community Service Award for Athletes in 2014 for her efforts in community service during her time as an undergraduate. Katy was active in Circle K and participated in numerous community service projects including a Habitat trip to Waterloo, Iowa. Katy was a two-year varsity letterman in women’s lacrosse at BW. Originally from Coshocton, Ohio, Katy currently resides in Berea. She enjoys supporting Baldwin Wallace athletics, spending time with friends and family and giving back to the community.
