The Office of Community Outreach offers a number of resources to faculty members utilizing service-learning pedagogy in their courses. The following resources are available by contacting Mila P. Cooper at ext. 2301.
The Director of Service-Learning works directly with individual faculty to provide information about potential sites and community partners whose needs are relevant to their service-learning objectives. The Director is also available for consultation with faculty regarding site selection, syllabi revision, student orientation, design of reflection activities and logistical support.
The Office of Community Outreach maintains a collection of books, articles, syllabi, videos, and pamphlets pertaining to service-learning and related topics. Items may be borrowed via campus mail or checked out in the office.
Faculty Development & Other Opportunities
In conjunction with the Center for Transformational Learning, OCO coordinates faculty development opportunities for faculty interested in service-learning. A variety of programs are offered to connect faculty with potential community partners including Service-Learning Expos, the Community Connections Program, attendance at conferences and on-campus workshops.
