Voice of Praise Gospel Choir
Mission and Purpose
The mission of the Voices of Praise Gospel Choir is to promote, preserve, and present gospel music as a sacred, authentic art form. This multicultural choir enjoys sharing the “Good News” of Jesus Christ in song by performing a number of concerts each semester on campus as well as in the Cleveland and neighboring communities.
Founded in 1975 by five African-American students, VOP has performed for thousands of people at home and abroad. Noted highlights include successful tours to Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Texas, and North Carolina; being selected to sing at Walt Disneyworld’s Epcot Center and Magic Kingdom; being the first college gospel choir to be featured at the Krefelder Gospelmusik Festival, Krefeld, Germany in 2002 and 2006; singing the National Anthem at the Cleveland Cavaliers (Ohio) professional basketball home games; and performing at many churches, schools, and other institutions.
