Core Academic Skill: Social Interaction
This interdisciplinary, team-taught course will provide an overview of the broad social changes in the major social institutions in contemporary China, Japan, Korea, India, and Pakistan. The course will place special emphasis on "modern" East Asia and South Asia’s linkages with their "traditional" pasts. The goal of this course is to give a broad introduction to social conditions in this part of the world, and to provide a basis for further study in more advanced and specialized classes in Asian studies. Field trips to local cultural sites are part of the course.
