Advance Assignment Required. An introduction to the science of biotechnology. Topics include a survey of the fundamentals of proteins and DNA, the basic procedures employed in working with these biological molecules, and the construction of recombinant DNA and transgenic animals ("genetic engineering"). This course involves an extensive lab experience. Class will also explore the societal impact of biotechnology. Lab included.
