This course will examine important areas of technological innovation and change and explore their prospects and threats for the future of global human society. We will examine such developments as reproductive technologies, genes and biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, communications and internet technologies, and energy technologies, and explore their implications for global society and business. Will these technologies reshape our understandings of human nature, social relationships, and our relationships with the natural environment? What are their ethical implications? We will give special attention to the implications of these technologies for business corporations.
