Preq: 6 hours of literature at 100 or 200 level
The first half of American Transcendentalism will focus on the established 19th Century authors associated with the concept: Emerson, Thoreau, Whitman & several minor voices. The second half of the course will explore 20th Century voices: E.B. White, Loren Eiseley, J.W. Krutch and the application of the concept to the environmental writers of our time.
