Systems

Ellucian (formerly Datatel)
BW employs Colleague by Ellucian as its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to integrate and connect various aspects of the institution.  Colleague facilitates records management, automates admissions, manages resources, and tracks metrics. 

Ellucian also provides BW’s WebExpress interface which provide students with online access to registration, grades, program evaluations, order textbooks, and more.

Blackboard
BW utilized Blackboard as its Learning Management System (LMS), helping faculty and students share course-related content and assessment.  Each course taught has a separate site for interaction between the instructor and students.

BW’s intranet portal, a gateway to university-wide information and resources, is also hosted by Blackboard.

Services

IT HelpDesk
The IT HelpDesk is available by telephone (440-826-7000) or online chat (http://help.bw.edu) 24/7/365 for student, faculty, or staff computing questions or issues.  The HelpDesk, located at 20 Beech Street on campus, is open for walk-in assistance during normal business hours.  After hours, calls are forwarded to our co-management partner, Blackboard Support Services. 

The HelpDesk offers many free support services.  For more difficult issues, some fee-paid services can be ordered.  BW is also an Apple Authorized Warranty Repair Center.

KnowledgeBase
As a service of the IT HelpDesk, an online KnowledgeBase was built to assist do-it-yourselfers from the BW community.  This comprehensive, searchable database contains specific documentation, answers, links, and fixes to help users solve problems quickly on their own.

Wireless
Wireless service (802.11n) is available in all academic buildings, residence halls, and most outdoor gathering areas on the BW campus.  A one-time (per year) setup is required to connect to the BW wireless network.  Users must have a BW network account to gain access.  Find it at http://wireless.bw.edu.

Anti-Virus
BW provides all faculty, staff, and students with a FREE copy of Symantec anti-virus software which can be downloaded from the KnowledgeBase (find it under "Software Downloads).

Software
BW students receive FREE Microsoft Office 365 software, featuring Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and Lync.  There are versions for both Mac and PC and mobile apps, as well.  It can be downloaded on up to 5 computers or mobile devices.  Thisis provided FREE of CHARGE to all current BW students.

Computer Labs & Printing
The BW campus has over 600 computers in 38 labs across its campus.  Two labs are open 24/7.  A complete list of labs, locations, and software is available.  Students also have access to the general pool of lab software remotely via BW's Virtual Desktop.  This gives students the ability to access lab programs from their residence hall, home, or virtually anywhere.  Printing is available in all labs. Wireless and mobile printing are also available.  All classrooms are equipped with media carts, projectors, and various other technologies.

Library
BW’s Ritter Library provides members of the BW community with a wealth of electronic and print resources.  Ritter provides a host of online databases, intra-library exchanges, and answers to reference questions via social media. 

Jacket Express
BW students use the “Jacket Express” electronic swipe card to gain access to buildings, pay for meals and vending, and make various campus purchases such as at the Bookstore.  

Emergency Text Messages
Students who provide their personal cell phone number to BW during Electronic Check-In can opt in to receive emergency text message notifications for urgent matters or school closings. 

“My Graduation Plan”
Students use the electronic “My Graduation Plan” with their academic advisors to plan out and follow a guided plan toward graduation that facilitates an organized approach for success.
