 What is your favorite quote?

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.ʺ -Ralph Waldo Emerson

What was your biggest mistake as a first year student? What did you learn from that experience?

My biggest mistake as a first year student would be that I wanted to try everything, so I did! While getting involved is great, you have to know your limits and take small steps as you integrate yourself into this new lifestyle.

How did you choose your major?

I actually chose my major before I came to school, but my choice was solidified through my intro. courses as well as my peers. I learned a lot from the people around me and the professors I met. By asking questions and learning more about my major, I was confident that it was where I would do best.

What has been your best experience at BW so far?

So far, my best experience has been Dance Marathon. Dance Marathon is a 12-hour dance and fundraiser that supports the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. It is a beautiful event that is fun and lively and brings together students, faculty, and the community to celebrate and fight for a cause that we are so close to curing!

What is your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is CyberCafé. There are always friendly faces there, a tasty snack, and it's a great place to relax!

What was the best advice given to you by your parents or family members during your first year?

The best piece of advice that my family gave me was to always be myself, but not to be afraid of taking chances and getting involved. They all encouraged me to find my passion and to explore all of the opportunities provided for me!

Final Word

Make this experience at BW what you want it to be – find your passion and then find a club or organization that is just fun for you and a way for you to relax. Being a student is quite the job; you have to find that balance between work and play. Don't hesitate to take advantage of the resources on campus to help you do that.
