Supporting Professional Scholarship, Sustaining Faculty Excellence, and Developing Appropriate New Academic Initiatives: $6,000,000

Robert Ebert ‘65

Buckhorn Professor of Economics
Director of Living Learning program

“The creativity that comes from faculty/student collaboration enables a higher quality of research and the ability to learn from each other.  In addition to being a mentoring relationship, it becomes a partnership.”

The BW experience is transformative because of our faculty, who can ignite the imagination of an entire class, who know how to offer encouragement at just the right moment, and who daily open up worlds of new possibilities for our students. They must find creative solutions to the challenges of staying abreast of a rapidly changing body of knowledge, while continually nurturing curious minds.

Our ability to continue to attract and retain women and men of exceptional teaching skill will depend on our continuing commitment to quality—and our continuing ability to provide a high level of faculty support for their teaching, research and creative endeavors. This campaign will create endowments to support professional scholarship and sustain excellence in teaching.

While the foundations of learning at BW will remain in the liberal arts, the College will actively pursue new academic initiatives and other program enhancements that will build on its strengths and help define its distinctiveness in the 21st Century.

Additional Objectives:

Enhancing the Learning Environment Through Renovation, New Construction, New Equipment and Learning Resources $49,000,000
Providing Scholarship Support for Needy and Academically Deserving Students $18,000,000
Sustaining Excellence and Strengthening the College Through Giving to the Annual Fund $  9,000,000
