CLEP College-Level Examination Program

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) provides standardized tests administered on a computer that allow students to demonstrate their knowledge in a wide variety of subjects and earn college credit. Ready to begin studying? Start Now!

CLEP exam fee $105. A $25 test administration fee and an $80 CLEP exam fee (effective July 2012). The test administration fee and CLEP Registration Form are due one week prior to an exam. Please carefully read the registration information, CLEP Fees section, and cancellation policy below.

Baldwin Wallace University is a national test center for CLEP. (Visit other test sites.) Since college policies regarding CLEP credits differ, students should verify if their institution accepts CLEP exams. Baldwin Wallace does not administer or require exams with essays.

Baldwin Wallace University CLEP Policy

CLEP examinations can lead to college credit at many institutions, including Baldwin Wallace University.  CLEP examinations are 90 minutes long and are administered on a computer.  There are general and more specific subject examinations approved at BW.  BW requires a passing score of at least 50.  The following list includes those examinations accepted by, and administered at Baldwin Wallace (Test Center #1050):

PLEASE NOTE:

  • CLEP scores do not affect your GPA. Passing scores earn academic credit.
  • Scores are reported to the school(s) designated in approximately 1 week.
  • Baldwin Wallace students are encouraged to consult with their academic advisor before registering for a CLEP exam.
  • CLEP policy states that you must wait six months before repeating an exam.

Testing sessions are planned on alternate Tuesdays at 4:00 p.m. and alternate Fridays at 10:00 a.m.  Other dates & times are by appointment - call to schedule at 440-826-2121.  Candidates are notified via e-mail or by phone confirming their testing date and time.

Click the link above to access a printable copy of the registration form in PDF format. A completed CLEP registration form must be submitted before an appointment can be arranged and confirmed. Registration forms are due one week before the scheduled exam.

CLEP Fees

The $105 fee for each CLEP test must be made in two payments. The first, the Test Administration Fee, is a nonrefundable, prepaid $25 check or money order payable to Baldwin Wallace University, which should be sent in with your registration form. The second, the exam fee, is a separate $80 (effective July 2012) credit card (preferred payment method), check or money order payable to CLEP (College-Level Examination Program), which may be sent in with your registration or paid on the day of the test.  CLEP does not accept cash.

If you register for more than one CLEP test, you may increase your fees for Baldwin Wallace University according to the number of tests you will take, and combine the $25 test administration fees.  However, a separate $80 payment to College-Level Examination Program is required for each exam, even if you are taking multiple tests. You may mail or drop off the required registration form to the Adult & Continuing Education office in the Bonds Hall, Room 102; however, the testing date will not be confirmed until all registration requirements are complete.

Testing Location

Bonds Hall, 275 Eastland Road, Baldwin Wallace University, Berea. All exams will take place in Bonds Hall - room 102 on the BW Campus. There is visitor parking in the row closest to Eastland Road.

Contact Information, Cancellation and No-show Policy

All appointments, cancellations, and rescheduling requests must be directed to Ria Solloway (rsollowa@bw.edu) or Laura Anderson at (440) 826-2121. The Baldwin Wallace fee is nonrefundable but is transferable one time ONLY if notification to reschedule is received at least three business days prior to the scheduled test date. If you reschedule more than one time you will be required to submit another Test Administration Fee.

On the Day of the Test

  • Arrive 15 minutes early. If test takers arrive LATE to their scheduled test sessions, they will NOT be allowed to take the test.
  • Bring two forms of identification - at least one must be a government issued ID
    • Examples of government issued ID: Driver's or Non-Driver's License, Military ID, Passport, State or Federal ID.
    • Secondary ID: Student photo ID, Military ID, (photo ID).
    • Bring credit card, money order or check payment for the $80 CLEP exam fee, if not already submitted with the registration form. CLEP does not accept cash.
  • Exam breaks are not scheduled.
  • Do not bring books, papers, beepers, cell phones, other electronic devices or watches that beep or have an alarm.
  • Do not bring a calculator to the exam. If a calculator is required, it is built into the test and will be available to you on the computer.
