BW Endowed Scholarships

Your gift can make possible the ongoing work of the University through creation of a permanent fund to provide income for years ahead.  The most popular form is named scholarships and prizes.  Named professorships, research funds, visiting professor funds, library and research materials acquisition are examples of endowment funds at Baldwin Wallace University. A named fund can be a legacy in learning for generations to come.

New endowments currently receiving online gifts include:

Cliff Bemis Music Theatre Scholarship

The Cliff Bemis Music Theatre Scholarship recognizes Baldwin Wallace University music theatre majors who have demonstrated interest in and dedication to a career in music theatre. Cliff Bemis, a 1970 BW graduate, gained fame with the long-running Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris which saved and restored the historic theatres in The Playhouse Square district in Cleveland, Ohio. Cliff’s 40-year career in entertainment includes commercial work, television spots, and theatre. He recently reprised the role of Ezekiel Foster in a traveling production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.

Ted Harakas Seminar in Europe Fund

Dr. Ted Harakas, BW professor of English, founded the Seminar in Europe Program in 1976 with Dr. Andrew Talton, BW professor of French. Since the program’s inception, hundreds of BW students have participated in this unique opportunity to experience the history of Europe and sites significant to the development of Western culture. Participants attend eight weeks of intense in-class preparation on campus with courses in the humanities, art, theatre and history, followed by six weeks of travel to five European countries. Co-directors Dr. Alex Nalbach and Dr. Marc Vincent hope that with financial assistance from this fund, more deserving BW students can take advantage of this exceptional experiential learning opportunity.
