I started to see a change in my career success when I decided to utilize Career Services at Baldwin Wallace. A Career Advisor helped me transform a dull resume to an exciting piece of documentation that appeals to employers. The advisor really did help bring the best I had to offer on paper, which filled me with great confidence. After a second appointment, I was educated regarding the technology tools that Career Services offers to BW students.  Within a few weeks, I had multiple interviews and started my first IT-related internship with Oswald Companies.

Major:
Digital Media and Design
Minor:  Marketing
Status/Degree/Year:  Junior - Bachelor of Arts, 2014
Internship Title/Organization:  Junior Associate Developer - Rosetta

In the fall I went on a tour of Rosetta's stunning downtown Cleveland office. I was as impressed with the quality of their work for their high-profile clientele as I was with the relaxed company culture. Shortly after the visit I made it a goal to intern there before I graduate. Although I missed the application deadline, I focused on becoming a competitive future applicant during the spring semester. In mid-April Rosetta hosted an open house. Without any expectations, I went armed with updated resumes. I networked well with numerous Rosetta employees and although there were not any summer internship positions available, after an informal interview the next week, a position was created for me. My keys to success have been making multiple points of contact with the company, a well formatted resume, networking well, relevant experience, and a little luck. I now intern at a phenomenal company with an award winning internship program.

Advisory Services Staff 1 - Ernst & Young LLP

I am confident that I would not have had as successful a career without the help of our Career Services Office. Coming to BW, I knew I loved numbers and wanted to be an accountant. A Resident Assistant my freshman year advised me to go to Career Services as early as I could to start my internship search. I took the advice and started to build relationships with the Career Services staff the very first day of my freshman year. As a first year student, I learned the importance and power of networking, having good interviewing skills, and making the most of my skills. With the help of Career Services, I was able to secure an internship with the U.S. Social Security Administration my sophomore year. During my senior year, I went through the accounting campus recruiting process in my search for a summer internship. I used all of the advice from Career Services to make myself stand out from the other applicants during the interviewing process.  I was able to secure a summer internship with Ernst & Young in the Advisory Services Practice. From the first day, I was assigned to a real world client and performed real world business work. I was challenged every single day and became a valued member of the engagement team. After my internship, Ernst & Young offered me a full-time position in the firms Advisory Services Audit Practice. I couldn't have asked for a better experience at BW and I couldn't have secured my job offer without the wonderful support of Career Services. Take advantage of our Career Services Office because I know they can help you as well!
