Baldwin Wallace University Volleyball Adds Lauren Corsillo and Marcela Nicolae to its Coaching Staff

BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University announces the additions of Lauren Corsillo and Marcela Nicolae to its 2012 Yellow Jacket coaching staff.

“We welcome both Lauren and Marcela to our athletics family at Baldwin Wallace University,” said BW Director of Athletics Kris A. Diaz. “Each one brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and experience to our volleyball program and will be valuable asset to Coach Brault and our student-athletes.  We look forward to working with each of them.”


“Both Lauren and Marcela are going to bring passion and energy to the program,” said Brault, who enters her 22nd season overall and 18th at BW with 397 career victories. “Lauren and “Marcela will be great additions to our program, and I am excited and looking forward to working with them.”


Corsillo joins BW and the volleyball program after serving as an Account Manager at Impact Solutions for the past three years. She was an assistant coach at Ohio Athletic Conference and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University from 2007-2010.  As a collegiate athlete, Corsillo played four years of volleyball at Walsh University and graduated in 2005. Following her senior season at Walsh, she was named as an honorable mention NAIA All-American.


Nicolae comes to the University after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and Sports University from “Dunarea de Jos Galati” located in Romania. In Romania, she played club volleyball for LPS Braila (1988-1994), CSU Galati (1994-1998) and Braiconf Braila (1998-2003). Prior to coming to BW, Nicolae worked as a physical education teacher for k-12, where she coached high school and middle school volleyball. Following her teaching career, Nicolae accepted the coaching job for the CSU Metal Galati.


The Yellow Jacket volleyball team opens preseason camp on Monday, August 20 and begins play on August 31 - September 1 when they travel to Claremont, California to play at the Pacific Coast Classic, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College. The home opener is on Wednesday, September 5 when BW hosts Oberlin College in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in The Lou Higgins Center in Berea at 7:00 p.m.
