Yellow Jacket Women Win All-Ohio Meet; Men Seventh

BEREA, OHIO -- The Yellow Jackets competed at the annual All-Ohio Meet at Ohio Wesleyan. The women won a team title as they finished first of 21 teams and the men were seventh of 21 schools. 

Sophomore Kara Weaver (Myrtle Creek, Ore./ South Umpqua) led the team as she won the long jump with a leap of 18-feet and one-half inch, ran on the All-Ohio Meet record-setting 4 x 100 meter relay team in 48.53 seconds, was third in both the 100-meter dash in 12.79 seconds and 200-meter dash in 26.29 seconds and was 10th in the triple jump with a leap of 32' 7.5". Joining Weaver on the record-setting relay team were juniors Mary Griglak (Berea/ Lutheran West) and Liz Redd (North Canton/ GlenOak) and senior Jayna Rasmussen (Westlake/ Lutheran West). In addition, Griglak won the 400-meter dash in 58.49 seconds, freshman Kristen Paulsen (Oberlin/ Firelands) won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.31 seconds and junior Amy Mauceri (Solon) won the discus with a throw of 123' 1".

For the men, senior Jon Shoffstall (Lakeview/ Indian Lake) won the hammer with a career-best throw of 178' 10" and freshman Jim Roy (West Simsbury,Conn./ Simsbury) won the javelin with a career-best throw of 196' 10".

Next Saturday April 23, the Yellow Jackets will compete at the Wilmington Invitational which begins at 10 a.m.
