12th-Ranked Baldwin Wallace Men's Soccer Team Ties 19th-Ranked Allegheny (Pa.) College, 1-1
BEREA, OHIO -- The 12th-ranked (NSCAA -- National Soccer College Coaches Association) Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team hosted 19th ranked Alleghney (Pa.) College tonight (Sept. 13) in Berea. The game went by two overtime periods and ended in a, 1-1, tie.
With the tie, the Yellow Jackets are now to 7-0-1 overall. BW has now outscored its opponents, 13-3, in 2006. Allegheny is now 6-0-2.
The first score came late in the first half when junior two-time All-OAC defender Tood Alexander (Hudson) scored off of a penalty kick at the 44:14 mark. At halftime the score was 1-0 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.
In the second half, Allegheny answered with a goal by Eric Sloan only three minutes into the half. No more marks were made in the rest of the game leaving the score tied at 1-1.
In goal for the Yellow Jackets was sophomore goalkeeper Alex Stavros (Fairlawn/Copley) who had six saves and only allowed one goal. His season record now stands at 4-0-1 and has only allowd two goals.
The Yellow Jacket men will be back in action this Saturday as they will host Defiance Collegeat 7:00p.m. in The George Finnie Stadium.
