BW Junior Forward Tyler Leister Named OAC Menís Co-Soccer Player of the Week
BEREA, OHIO -- Baldwin Wallace University junior forward Tyler Leister (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) is this weekís Ohio Athletic Conference Menís Soccer Co-Player of the Week. He shares the honor with Steven McCarthy of Capital University.
Leister, a three-year starter, earned his honor for scoring three goals in BWís 4-0 shutout of Muskingum University on Saturday, October 17 at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea. In fact, Leister had another goal disallowed by the referee and the Muskingum goalie made an incredible save on a header, otherwise he would have had five goals and tied a BW single-game record.
For the season, Leister, who missed four matches earlier this season, has five goals and 10 points to rank third on the team behind sophomore forward Carlin Vandendriesscheís (Medina/ Senior) 21 points and freshman midfielder Pat Brennanís (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit) 11 markers. Leister is second on the squad with 36 total shots and tied for third with one game-winning goal (versus Muskingum).
For his career, Leister has appeared in 47 matches and has taken 118 shots, scored 19 goals and added seven assists for 45 career points.
Leister and the Yellow Jackets, 9-6 overall, 4-1 in the OAC and winners of nine of their last 10 matches, will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 20 when they host Capital University in a key OAC match on Seniorsí Night. Kickoff from Tressel Field at The George Finnie Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m.
