BW Men’s Golf Team In Fourth After First Round of Barclay Invitational

GRANVILLE, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men’s golf team stands in fourth place  of 10 teams today (Saturday, April 7, 2012) after the first round of the annual Barclay Invitational hosted by Denison University

BW totaled 311 strokes on the par-71 and 6,590-yard Granville Country Club layout.  Denison University stands in first place with a total of 304  strokes while Ohio Wesleyan trails just by three strokes. Point Park (Pa.) is in third just one stroke ahead of the Yellow Jackets.

For BW, junior Stephen Spalding (Stow/Walsh Jesuit) shot the low round of the day at 74, placing him in third place individually.  Sophomore Augie Ward (Medina/Walsh Jesuit) and freshman Adam Sanders (Fairview Park) each fired rounds of 78.  Following Ward and Sanders, senior Ricky Jaskolski (North Royalton/Padua) carded a round of 81.  Rounding out team play for the day, Matt Warren (Copley) shot an 82.

Playing as individuals senior Kyle Lewis (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) and freshman Cody Lyon (Wadsworth/Medina Highland) each had rounds of 81.

After tomorrow’s final round, the Yellow Jackets will next compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference Spring Invitational hosted by Otterbein University on Sunday and Monday, April 15-16 at the Little Turtle Golf Club in Westerville.
