Angelo Rodriguez
BW Class of 1962 | Induction Class of 1994
Angelo “Ang” Rodriguez was a standout basketball and baseball player for BW, earning three varsity letters on the hardwood and four on the diamond. In baseball, Rodriguez captained the Brown & Gold and was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference shortstop in 1962. At the plate, he batted over .300 for three straight seasons. In basketball, he was a two-year starter and was named BW’s Outstanding Senior Male Athlete in 1962.
Rodriguez received a master’s degree in education from Kent State University in 1967 and taught in the Cleveland Public School System where he retired in 1995. His legendary baseball coaching career spanned 22 years at Cleveland South High. Rodriguez compiled a record of 271-165 at South and his teams won eight Senate League and four City titles. He was named the 1990 Greater Cleveland Baseball Coaches Association Man of the Year.
Ang joined his older brother, Jim '53, as a member of the BW Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994.
