 It is with great pride and pleasure that Baldwin Wallace University recognizes the achievements of its outstanding alumni.  Listed below are descriptions of the Alumni Honors and Awards which are presented annually.  Distinguished Alumni List

Alumni Merit Award

The Baldwin Wallace University Alumni Merit Award honors outstanding alumni and honorary alumni for their achievements, leadership and contributions to their profession or field of study, their community and their alma mater.  Recipients must have attended Baldwin Wallace University for a minimum of one year or must have served the College for a minimum of ten years.   Ability to be in Berea to receive the award shall not be a criterion.   The Alumni Merit Award may be conferred posthumously.   Nominees shall be judged on their achievements since graduating from or leaving the College.   Nominees will be kept on file and reviewed annually for five years.

The Merit Awards will be conferred annually at the Alumni Honors Program during Alumni Weekend.  A minimum of four awards shall be given annually with a suggested maximum of six at the discretion of the selection committee.  Merit Award Nomination Form


BW Athletic Hall of Fame

The Baldwin Wallace University Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1965 to honor outstanding individuals for contributions to the College as an athlete, coach or athletic administrator. During the history of the Hall of Fame, more than 250 men and women have been recognized. The Baldwin Wallace University Women's Alumni Athletic Association inducted its first honorees in 1992.  BW athletes have established a rich tradition in athletics during their college years and beyond. Many of their deeds are chronicled in the Athletic Archives located in the BW Recreation Center.  

An athlete's class must have graduated at least ten years prior to selection.  The award is based on their achievements during their college athletic careers.

Coach or Athletic Adminstrator
A coach or athletic administrator must have lettered at Baldwin Wallace or served on the BW staff at least ten years, and must be retired, prior to selection.

An honorary Hall of Fame candidate must have made a significant impact on the BW athletic program, or in regional, state, national or international levels of athletics.  An honorary candidate would not otherwise qualify as an athlete or as a coach or athletic administrator.

Suggested criteria include level of competition awards, recognitions, etc.; leadership; impact on athletic program; all-Star teams, honors, conference and school record holders; and community involvement and citizenship.

The awards are presented annually at the Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet during Homecoming Weekend.

Conservatory of Music Alumni Achievement Award

The Conservatory of Music will honor outstanding alumni for their achievements in the field of music through performance, education or service to others with the presentation of the Conservatory of Music Alumni Achievement Awards.  The achievement awards will be conferred annually at the Conservatory of Music Alumni Achievement Awards Program.


Family Heritage Award

The Alumni Association recognizes and honors those distinguished families who, throughout generations, have provided many years of faithful and loyal service to Baldwin Wallace University. The number of generations and the number of family members who have graduated from BW as well as service to the College are considered.  All members of the Association shall be encouraged to nominate families that they deem worthy of this honor. One family will be honored annually at the Alumni Honors Program during Alumni Weekend.


Outstanding Educator Award

The Baldwin Wallace University Outstanding Educator Award honors individuals in the field of education who have made significant contributions to the lives of others as teachers, mentors and role models.  The honoree must have received an undergraduate or graduate degree from Baldwin Wallace.  The awards will be conferred annually at the Outstanding Educator Awards Banquet in the Spring.
