This year for Thanksgiving I am visiting my Grandma in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina. Her house in the mountains is one of my favorite places in the world because it is secluded and quite and tucked away from civilization. I can’t wait to grab a book and read on the porch swing or in the hammock. Of course, I also can’t wait to see my Grandma. I hardly ever get to see her because we live so far away from each other, but now that I go to school in the lower 48 I have gotten to see a lot more of her.
I’ve never spent Thanksgiving at anyone’s house but my own, so this will be a very new and different Thanksgiving than the ones I’ve spent in the past. Of course, I will miss seeing my mom, dad, sister and brother on my favorite holiday of the year, but I’m thankful that I get to spend the week with other relatives that I love and love to spend time with.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Don’t forget to remember what you are most thankful for in your life!
