I am a member of the Honors Program here at BW and earlier this week we had a dinner and book discussion with President Helmer. This is the first year that the program has tried something like this, and I thought it was really interesting. Back in the fall all of the seniors in the program received a copy of the book, How to get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia. We had over winter break and the beginning of this semester to read the book. Then this week we all met in the Colony Room, where we had a great dinner, and discussed the book.
The book was very interesting, it was written in a style that was completely different from what I am used to reading. The book was a novel that dealt with topics of success, love and the journey throughout life, but from a very interesting perspective. I really enjoyed the opportunity to talk about the book. I like to read on my own a lot, but never really get to discuss what I'm reading with other people, so this was actually very fun for me. It was also a great chance to reconnect with some of the seniors in the program that I don't get to see very often. I hope that the program continues to do this in the future!
