Last Saturday was Dance Marathon here at BW, this is one of my favorite events. During Dance Marathon all the participants dance for 12 hours straight, and all of the money that is raised is donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF). EGPAF was founded by Elizabeth Glaser who contracted HIV through a blood transfusion and unknowingly passed it to her daughter Ariel and her son Jake. At the time there was no treatment for children with AIDS so Elizabeth fought hard to raise awareness. Elizabeth and her daughter both passed away but her son is still alive and well today. It was amazing to be part of such a fun event that raises money for an amazing cause.
This is the third year that I have been involved with Dance Marathon and every year I find myself having more fun. This year was no exception, the steering committee that put together everything did an amazing job. It takes lots of hard work to make something like this successful and it really showed how passionate all of the people who helped to plan the event are about EGPAF. We were able to raise $27, 450 to send to the foundation! It was a great way to have fun and support something extremely important.
