Today was the annual Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music’s Holiday Concert. The Holiday Concert is a popular event hosted by the BW Conservatory Women's Committee, and is a combination of vocal and instrumental ensembles skillfully performing beloved holiday favorites in the Gamble auditorium. The choir I am a member of this year is the BW Women's Choir. My choir performed a lovely arrangement of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and a fun Latin piece called "Gaudete". We then waited around backstage while the Motet, and University Choirs did their thing then we all came together to sing the annual Christmas Festival as the finale. The sound was booming and beautiful and at the end of the nearly two hour long Holiday Concert we received a standing ovation from the very enthusiastic crowd.
This year’s Holiday Concert was completely sold out a week prior to the event. My family was unable to get tickets. A couple of months ago BW Conservatory teamed with a company (Ustream), to provide live streaming of select concerts and performance events in the Gamble Auditorium. This is a wonderful opportunity for the families and friends of conservatory faculty and students to be able to see and more importantly clearly hear the beautiful conservatory concerts. These select events can be viewed on most devises (there’s an app for that) simply by clicking this link just before the start of the concert. The live streaming online allows families of students, many of which live outside of Ohio, to experience their loved ones performances. This was the first semester of live streaming (around 12 concerts) and it was apparently a big hit as I noticed it has been used nearly 2,000 times already. In order to see the concerts you need to know when they begin so here is the link to the schedule of conservatory events. Please enjoy a concert with the BW Conservatory from anywhere you have access to the internet.
