I had the opportunity to see Baldwin Wallace University’s 2014 Prism Concert last night in Gamble auditorium. Prism is a collaborative student-produced cabaret style show where any and all students can audition to show off their musical, dance, or any kind of artistic skills. This was the fourth annual Prism concert organized by Megan Anderson and Nick Wilders, both wonderful personalities at BW. Nick is a student in the music conservatory, and is an extremely gifted, talented, musician, so he plans and actually composes some of the music.
Prism features contemporary popular music ranging from Coldplay to a French horn quartet playing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. The Concert unites 100 students to create a "one night only" event for students, faculty, alumni, and community members. The talent blew me away, and it’s really awesome to see that all the already gifted musicians here are also versatile can kill all genres, not just the one they specialize in. I'd love to be a part of Prism next year maybe with a five part boys harmony….? Hmm, stay tuned and you shall see.
