I am so excited to be beginning rehearsals for the #spring dance show. It is my first #dance performance experience at #Baldwin Wallace and I am also helping my friend and classmate, Ellis, choreograph one of the numbers for the show, a contemporary piece about breaking molds. We began choreographing to the song "Same Love", by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, but it has now morphed into something more, and we are being paired with a BW composer who will come up with an entire arrangement for our piece. Sara Whale, a dance teacher here at BW, had the brilliant idea to assign each choreographer poems that we would use to inspire the movement of our pieces. One word that Ellis picked out, to create a theme from, was "blossom", so the dance has many subtle "blossoming" movements. We are working with six dancers including myself, who have stepped up to the plate to make our piece emotional and filled with passion. In a few weeks our composer should have our piece done so we can begin to bring the two together to create some wicked cool art. So, please come see "Fyoo zh en" on February 28th, and March 1st and 2nd at 7:30 and March 3rd at 2:00.
