The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers a number of programs in Mathematics:
- Traditional Mathematics Major and Minor
The mathematics major prepares students for rewarding careers in education, business, academia, industry, and government. Our majors receive training in both the theoretical and applied aspects of the subject, and have had excellent records of placement in graduate and professional schools, as well as employment.
A major in mathematics can create even more opportunities when combined with another field of study such as business, economics, or the sciences.
A mathematics minor can add a strong quantitative component to any major, and is especially useful for students majoring in fields such as business, economics, and computer science.
- Administered out of the Department of Mathematics, the multi-disciplinary statistics minor gives students valuable background in a rapidly growing field.
- Pre-Actuarial Course of Study
According to BeAnActuary.org, Actuary is rated by Jobs Rated Almanac as one of the ten best jobs in America! Actuaries are experts in the management of risk, and you can see here what they do and where they do it.
Any student with strong mathematical skills who is also interested in business and the world of finance should strongly consider this well-paying and secure field.
