BW to Host American Mathematics Competition
The College's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is pleased to announce that it will serve as a local host for the "B" date of the AMC 10 / AMC 12 Contests of the American Mathematics Competitions. The AMC Contests are among the leading high school mathematics competitions in the country, with the AMC 10 intended for high school Sophomores and the AMC 12 for Juniors and Seniors.
Students receive awards at Ovation ceremony
The Department has a number of awards that it makes each year to deserving students at the Ovation ceremony. The 2009 awards are listed here. We congratulate these outstanding students!
Dr. Chungsim Han wins Strosacker Award at Ovation ceremony
Dr. Han was given the Strosacker Award for Excellence in Teaching at the Ovation ceremony on April 30, 2010. Excerpts from letters recommending Dr. Han for the award indicated the ways in which her dedication to teaching has touched the lives of many current and former students. We extend hearty congratulations to Dr. Han!
Dr. Richard Little wins state-wide recognition
Dr. Little was presented with the Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics by the Ohio Section of the Mathematical Association of America at the Spring 2010 Section meeting held at Kent State University. The award citation listed some of the many ways in which Dr. Little has served his students and the mathematics and teaching professions throughout his career. We congratulate him for this well-deserved honor.
New Mathematics Professor joins the Department
Dr. Melissa Dennison will be joining the Department beginning Fall semester of 2010. Dr. Dennison is completing her Ph.D. in combinatorial number theory at the University of Illinois.
