What is your career goal five years from now?
I plan to become an exercise physiologist in a successful cardiac rehabilitation program.
What are you currently doing?
I will be an exercise physiology intern at the Cleveland Clinic in the preventive cardiology and rehabilitation department. After gaining 2-3 years of career experience, I plan on pursuing a graduate degree in exercise physiology.
What activities outside the classroom enriched your BW experience?
I completed a clinical exercise internship at Parma Community General Hospital in the cardiac rehabilitation department. I had an opportunity to interact with patients recovering from a cardiac event while providing health education, exercise prescription, motivation and encouragement.
In the fall of 2012, I served as a student co-chair for a project funded by Medical Mutual of Ohio to develop and implement a work site wellness stress management program for BW.
Who is your HPE faculty mentor?
Dr. Amy Jo Sutterluety has served as my mentor, advisor, and professor. She leads first by example and then by the incredibly high expectations she puts in place for all of her students. She inspires everyone around her to excel. She has facilitated multiple learning opportunities outside the classroom, which have been crucial in building the necessary skills to advance me in my career path of interest.
