Poised to be the leaders of tomorrow, Honors students have ample opportunity to hone their leadership skills and engage in leadership experiences. As a program pillar, leadership development in Honors focuses on self-awareness, peer mentoring, and building on personal strengths.
Honors Leadership Board
Honors Leadership Board (HLB) is a student-founded, student-run group that provides programming for the entire Honors Program. From picnics and documentary viewings to off-campus excursions and winter coat drives, HLB offers our students a direct role in shaping the Honors experience at BW.
Leadership through Mentoring
Each spring, our Leadership through Mentoring program commences with a multi-part leadership training for mentors prior to their fall term experience of mentoring our incoming students. The program focuses on developing individual strengths and building the capacities of the people around us.
An annual career and leadership development workshop, the Appraisal Center partners Honors students with local business leaders for a day involving mock interviews, student presentations, and lots of individual feedback! Students come away with contacts and great ideas for improving their skills.
