Computer Information Systems Major: Network Analyst Concentration

All Computer Information Systems majors must choose one of the two available concentrations. Below are the requirements for the Network Analyst Concentration. Also available is the Information Systems Analyst Concentration.

Network Analyst Concentration

The Network Analyst concentration of the Computer Information Systems major will prepare students to design, implement, and administer computer networks while also providing a more general foundation that enables students to understand the impact of networking on other areas of computing. Requirements consist of the following:

  • Computer Science Component -- 35 semester hours:
    • CSC 210 Computer Science I
    • CSC 215 Digital Topics
    • CSC 220 Fundamentals of Distributed Systems
    • CSC 225 File Systems Management Techniques and Applications
    • CSC 270 Telecommunications
    • CSC 290 Building LAN's
    • CSC 360 Project Management
    • CSC 370 Security. Privacy and Ethics
    • CSC 410 Advanced LANS
    • CSC 411 Network Administration
    • CSC 470 Senior Internship or CSC 471 Senior Project
    • a CSC course numbered above 200
  • Mathematics Component -- 7 semester hours:
    • MTH 135 Introduction to Probability and Statistics
    • MTH 161 Discrete Mathematics I
  • Business Administration Component -- 3 semester hours:
    • BUS 358 Business Communications
  • Communications Component -- 3 semester hours:
    • CST 112 Public Speaking
