Location

The compact, picturesque, easy to walk, suburban campus of Baldwin Wallace is a welcoming environment for conference groups. But it's BW's accessible location that plays a vital role in attracting conference groups of all types.

Situated in the charming college town of Berea, Ohio, with a population of 17,900, the Baldwin Wallace campus is a short stroll to the downtown commercial area, with easy access to restaurants, cafés and gift shops.

For local and regional groups, highway access via I-71 and the Ohio Turnpike is just minutes away. For national and international groups, the 10-minute proximity to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is a conference leader's dream, while downtown Cleveland with all of its exciting attractions is just a 20-minute drive from campus.

Dining

BW's Dining Services has been serving conference groups for years. Managed by BW staff and housed in Strosacker Hall, the cuisine consistently receives rave reviews from students, faculty, staff, alumni, the local community and conference visitors.

Services include refreshment breaks, buffet-style meals, hors d'oeuvres receptions, served banquets, boxed lunches and dinners and late night snacks. You can count on BW's professional, friendly service and wide selection of gourmet goods to satisfy your needs. BW's catering staff is happy to offer ideas, suggestions and alternatives to ensure that your event is a success.

After you have scheduled your event, contact BW Dining Services at (440) 826-8167 to discuss your menu.

Facilities

Baldwin Wallace offers a wide range of meeting and event spaces for any size group, from small meeting or breakout rooms for 10, to a 512-seat theatre and auditorium.

Conference Center

The Sandstone Conference Center located in the lower level of Strosacker Hall consists of several meeting rooms, all furnished with multimedia equipment and internet access. Various other classrooms, meeting rooms and computer labs on campus are also available for conferences.

Athletic Camps

For athletic camps, Lou Higgins Recreation Center is equipped to offer several basketball, volleyball or badminton courts, an indoor track and a pool. For outdoor athletic spaces, the George Finnie Stadium provides a synthetic turf field and unique state-of-the-art outdoor track surface, the same surface used at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and one of only four of its kind throughout the world.

Theatres for Larger Events

While Kleist Center for Art and Drama is an exceptional facility for BW students who study theatre, the venue can host larger events in two distinctive spaces. The Mainstage Theatre is a large, 512-seat proscenium theatre, while the Black Box Theatre is a smaller, flexible venue able to seat between 100 to 250. The Black Box's studio space can be configured in a variety of seating arrangements, including proscenium, three-quarter-thrust and in-the-round. The theatre also has a balcony around three sides and a lighting grid 23 feet above the stage floor.

Housing

For events held in the summer months, camp and conference participants can be housed in BW's residence halls. Amenities provided include single and double rooms with a twin XL bed, desk and chair, closet or wardrobe and drawer space for each person; common lounge space with cable TV; complimentary laundry facilities and wireless Internet access; and vending machines for late-night snacks.

Groups are typically housed in:

  • Carmel Living/Learning Center
  • Constitution Hall
  • Ernsthausen Hall
  • Davidson Commons
  • Heritage Hall

Recreation and Leisure

BW's Lou Higgins Recreation Center features an indoor track, swimming pool and several multipurpose courts for either basketball, volleyball or badminton, all available to rent by the hour or by the day.

Outdoor facilities for conference participants include tennis and basketball courts, a sand volleyball court and plenty of green space for free play activities for no additional charge.

Nearby Cleveland Metroparks offer stunning lakes and rivers, with picnic tables, walking/jogging paths and a fitness circuit within a tranquil wooded setting. The city of Cleveland also beckons with a host of world class entertainment and cultural venues, museums, theatres, shopping, restaurants and professional sports teams (Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Guardians).

There are plenty of additional opportunities within walking distance or a short drive for conference participants to unwind after a busy day.
